Our first All-In and Call on the bubble

TT vs QT - All in Preflop: Queen on flop

A very lucky man

Jude Gives Up on Pot

Jude Duffy gives up on a 50k flop. Raising to 9,000 with blinds at 1500/3000 and is reraised to 18,000 by Willie Fitz in the SB. Willie checks the A high flop and Jude bets out and is immediately put all in by Willie. Jude folds and Willie happily accepts the pot!

Jude Duffy

We're on the bubble!

Anthony Lynch's AK just knocked out a shortstacked player who pushed all-in preflop with KQ. We're now on the bubble!

Trevor Dineen Doubles Through Sean Prenderville

Trevor Dineen is a name I haven't thrown about much today, if at all! But he's just been involved in a 186.6k pot with JJ versus the AK of Sean Prenderville. The action went like this:

Sean: Raise / Trevor: Reraise / Sean: Re-reraise / Sean: Re-re-reraise / Trevor: CALL

The board was all low and Sean watches another massive stack being raked away from him!

Chris Caffrey Gone

The shortstack of Table 16, Chris Caffrey found his AJ dominating his callers AT, but a T on the river see's Chris leave in 22nd place!

Chip Counts

Here are some chip counts from one of the three remaining tables in the main event!

Bops: 65k
Simon McHechie: 115k
Willy Fitz: 135k
Alex Collyer: 110k
Jude Duffy: 120k

I'll try get some counts on the other tables in the next few minutes¬

Smurph is gone!

In another preflop battle, I join the table as Alex Collyer pushes all in for ~55k and is called by Smurph. Collyer has 99 and Smurph shows QQ. A flop of 922 means that Smurph is crippled!

The very next hand, Smurph pushes with 83 and finds a caller in the form of Jude Duffy whose J6 hits trips by the river!

Dara O'Kearney Makes Waves Taking Out Two!

There's been a period of non-stop action here in the Main Event. Dara O'Kearney has just eliminated two players in the one hand when his KK held up to take down a massive pot. We now have 23 players remaining and are playing down to 18!

Robbie Power Gone

During the previous big hand involving Sean, I missed the elimination of the shortstacked Robbie Power. I caught up with him moments later and told me that he pushed his remaining 12k into the pot (blinds 1000/2000) with A2 on the button which was called by the BB's A9. No help for Robbie and he exits in 26th!

Sean Prenderville in 200k Pot

I get to Table 15 with lots of chips in the pot and the board reading 8-3-6. Sean launches in a bet of around 50k into the pot. His opponent thinks for a while before pushing for 45k more. Sean calls showing 97 for an open ended straight draw. His opponent shows JJ and has to dodge plenty of cards, especially when the turn is a 7. The river is a blank and Sean doubles up BIGMICKG in a pot over 200k!

Bop getting aggressive

On table 16, Smurph makes a standard opening raise to 6k to which Bops pushes in for another 50k more! "You've got to be joking" exclaims Colette, "you've probably got pocket 2's". She folds showing an ace and Bops shows his ace before mucking.

Albert Kenny Gone!

The very first hand back from the break, Albert Kenny pushes with 88 and is called by 99. Despite turning an 8, a forth heart falls on the river giving his opponent a flush!

Payout Structure For Main Event

1st - €20,000
2nd - €12,000
3rd - €7000
4th - €6000
5th - €5000
6th - €4000
7th - €3500
8th - €2500
9th - €2000
10th - €1500
11-13th - €1000
14-18th - €800

AA vs KK vs QQ - and Kings folded!

Albert Kenny once again found himself in the thick of it, but this time he was at the wrong end of crazy preflop action! His QQ was floundering against the AA of Victor Brophy. Perhaps the most amazing aspect of this hand was that Gerry Wall, the Wexford man, folded KK! Unlike the infamous cold-deck hand on YouTube, there was no help for Albert and he loses 51k from his stack in a 110k pot that swung its way over to Victor when an Ace on the turn sealed the deal! Albert now finds himself shortstacked and has just been moved to a new table.

Joe Flemming Eliminated

I just set out to get a few chip counts, but straight away witnessed Joe Flemming push allin on Table 13 with TT. He found action in the form of 99 but it wasn't to be as a board of 2-9-Q-2-5 has sent Joe to the rails in 30th place! His executioner was the following man, who I have yet to identify!

Albert Kenny doubles up!

Albert Kenny had just moved to Table 18 and immediately got involved in the action! With blinds at 800/1500, he found himself getting it all in for a 50k pot with KK which was up against Ger Walls JJ. KK held up and having once been teetering on the verge of elimination, now boasts a decent stack. Ger Wall still has a large stack!

Sean Prenderville Takes Out Paddy Dooley in Monster Pot!

I arrived at the table to see bodies all around watching as Paddy paused for thought to try make a decision for all his chips. The board read 7-2-A-8-9 and Paddy reluctantly made the call for a pot that was worth well over 160k! Sean immediately apologies and shows JT for a rivered straight. Paddy throws his cards face down into the muck and is left to ponder what could have been! Sean now has what resembles a fort in front of him!

Colin Fardy Doubles Up

Colin Fardy has just doubled up courtesy of Gerry Wall. Pushing all-in with 5h-8h and getting called by Gerry's A7! There looked to be little hope for him until he runner runnered a flush that is!

EDIT: In the time it took me to upload the picture and write out the report, he's been eliminated!

Quad Queens For Thomas Brady

Thomas Nolan was thrown a lifeline when there was three way all-in action involving himself, Colin Fardy and the chip leader of the table, Anthony Lynch. QT for Thomas Brady, AJ for Anthony Lynch and 55 for Colin Fardy. If the flop of 7-3-Q brought a smile to Brady's face, imagine how his face looked when he runner runner Quads!

Blind on Blind Action

Table 18 is home to Anthony Lynch who's currently one of the chip leaders. When he raises in mid position he's surprised to find both the SB and the BB go all in behind him. Reluctantly he folds, but is delighted to see both his opponents turn over big pairs - JJ and AA. The flop offers no help to the SB but the turn brings a Jack much to the despair of Mick French who had been waiting for a hand like that all day! He was left with 1000, but has since doubled up and then trebled up!
Mick French, down but not out

Liam Power Congratulates The Player He Knocks Out!

I just witnessed a bizarre hand where Liam Power was congratulating his opponent before realising that he had actually beaten them. Liam Power raises on the button before being faced with a shortstack push from the BB. He calls and his 66 is racing against KJ. A flop of 3-5-J made things look rosey for the shortstack, but in a cruel sense of irony, the King on the turn which gave him two pair, also brought a third diamond. Needless to say, a 4th diamond fell on the river giving Liam Power a 6 high flush which he didn't notice for quite some time! His reaction tells it all though!Liam Power, 75k

Mal Dobbins knocks one out!

I haven't posted much on Mal Dobbins since last night, but he just knocked out a player that has resulted in two things 1) he now has a massive chip stack and 2) we're now down to 45 players.

Mal pushes over the top of his opponents continuation bet on a flop of 2-T-3 and is called by JJ. Of course Mal knows he's miles ahead and flips TT for the nuts! No miracle Jack and Mal is now comfortable with over 50k.

Tournament Update

There are now 50mins remaining in the 600/1200 level which has a running ante of 100. 47 Players remain and the average stack is now 48,500.

Goodbye To Tommy Walsh

William Fitz, who has overnight become pimped out in BigSlickEvents Merchandise has just eliminated Tommy Walsh. Tommy Walsh makes it 5k in early position and is min-reraised to 10k by Willie Fitz who is called on a string bet having meant to raise to 15k. With this, Tommy pushes all in and is called by Willie who shows up TT which is racing against Tommy's AK.

The board comes down 335 and a Ten on the turn means Tommy is drawing is dead.

Bops Motoring On

Bops is still in contention to win this tournament. Despite all the naysayers, he doesn't appear to be donking away his chips having just taken down a nice pot with KK.

UTG raised to 3k with blinds at 500/1000 and Bops reraised to 9k. Alex Collyer dwells up before folding and it's folded around to UTG who calls. The flop comes down 8d9d7s and it's checked into Bops who bets 11k. UTG folds and Bops shows KK. "You were lucky" says Alex Collyer who had folded 99 preflop!

Damien Kent OUT!

Colette Murphy has claimed yet another scalp! This time her prize is Damien Kent who check raised all-in with AA on a Q-9-6-6 board only for Colette to snap call with 99 for a house. An insignificant K on the river means the Colette is right back in it!

Eddie Walsh

At the request of a Boards.ie member, here's Eddie Walsh in all his glory. At least I think it's him.

5 Players Gone from Side Event

4 players have since followed in the footsteps in Shane Cooney in the €250 side event but unfortunately I caught none of them! Given that we're only in the second level of the tournament, I'd love to assume that they were all cold decks, but given some of the plays I've seen this weekend, chances are most of them were just over the top plays gone horribly wrong!

Players are making their way back from the Main Event break now and I'm back in my corner with my camera ready to follow the action.

Taking a break!

With the 53 players remaining from the Main Event all on a break, I think I'll join them to once again collect some stories, but more importantly... be fed!

Play is of course continuing on in the €250 Event but play is going relatively slow as players don't wish to follow in the footsteps of Shane Cooney, the first player out! He even seemed to celebrate the occassion! Perhaps because he lasted slightly longer than his brother did in a WSOP event earlier on this month!

A Triple Up On Last Hand Before Break

They're now on a break in the main event, but whilst the majority of the players were racing to the bar, players on table 18 were racing to get their chips into the middle with a three way all-in with AK playing AQ playing QQ! Queens held on a board of 4-2-4-6-5 and the following man can now enjoy his food!

€250 Side Event Has Started

The €250 side event has got under way with the final all-in on fold satellites having just finished! There's currently still people registered, and they're welcome to within the first few levels so it looks like the field could be as big as 60 players.

I'll try my best to cover this as the night goes on!

Chip Counts

Tournament Update

We are now down to 65 players with blinds at 400/800 with a running ANTE of 75. I'm going to go on a lap of the room in a minute and report back with various chip counts!

The €250 side-event is due to start shortly with all-in or fold satellites running at this minute!

Dave McCarthy Out

In what's becoming a common preflop scenario at this stage, Dave McCarthy pushed over the top of Eamon Hogans UTG raise. Eamon happily called and his AA held against Dave's 88.
Dave McCarthy: OUT

Pat Russell Takes Down 25k Pot with Pair of two's

In one of the biggest calls we've seen this tournament, Pat Russell found himself at the river facing a bet of 9k on a Qs-Q-6s-2-K board. Pat made the call with As2s for a busted flushdraw that picked up a pair of twos on the turn. His opponent mucks 9s5s and wonders how Pat could ever have made that call!

Pat is now motoring with 58k.

Warren Lane And John Quinn Clash!

John Quinn

Warren Lane and John Quinn clashed preflop with Warren pushing all-in over the top of John Quinns raise which was quickly called. Warren showed JJ which was looking a little inferior against John's KK. A board of A-9-7-7-6 brought no help to Warren and he exits the tournament.

Matt Dobbins Doubles Up Through Anthony Lynch

In a massive pot, Kerry man Matt Dobbins, doubles up through Anthony Lynch for the second time having last night cracked Anthony's set with a pair and a flush draw off the flop which hit by the river. This time it was Matt Dobbins with the set, flopping a set of fours on a A-J-4 board.

On this occassion all the money went in and Anthony turned over AJ for top two pair. There was no Ace or Jack on the river and Anthony Lynch takes an excruciating blow to his stack!

Matt Dobbins: 75k

Anthony Lynch: 50k

Players on their first break of the day!

Player's are now on their first break of the day! Most of headed out to the Bodog lounge where they're greeted to sight's like this:

I'll post soon with a breakdown of the big hands before the break!

Fox loses 80k pot and is out!

Brian O'Keefe lost a massive 80k pot and is now out of the Bodog Waterford Open. Fox was dealt AJ and checked a massive J-J-5 flop and called a bet of 9k on the flop. He once again checked the King turn and called a bet. An Ace came on the river giving Brian a house of Jacks over Aces which he checked and pushed over the top of his opponents bet. He was called and was shown KK for a higher house!

Albert Kenny Triples Up!

Albert Kenny, 31k

Table 14 saw some dramatic preflop action with 3 players all-in preflop!

John Quinn, who covered all players, turned over 99, Diane Duff turned over AK and Albert Kenny, as the short stack, turned over AJ.

Albert looked in horrible shape, but his calls for a red jack were answered with the Jack of hearts coming out on a flop of : T-J-5. No help came for either Diane or John on the blank turn, 5, and river, 2 and Albert Tripled up at the expense of Diane Duff who made a swift exit!

82 Remaining

Players have been falling like flies all day today! There are now 82 players remaining with the average stack now standing at 26,650! We are only 19 minutes away from a break and I expect to see another quick flurry of eliminations prior to this!

Chip counts for some Waterford Players

Butch Power: 27k
Robert Power: 33k
Pat Storan: OUT!
Warren Lane: 18k
Colin Fardy: 22k

Bodog Girls Bring Luck To The Fox

Brian O'Keefe now finds himself sitting with 32k. Raising KJ in late position to 1400 with blinds at 300/600, he was faced with a reraise to 4.4k from the BB. Fox called and the flop came A-T-T with the action going check-check. The turn brought a Jack and once again the action went check-check. On the river, which was a 6, the BB bet out 9k. Fox mulled it over for a while before making a call which was good!

Jason Thompkins triples up!

Jason Thompkins almost didn't bother arriving this morning, having only 5,425 left over from last night but after arriving two hours late, found himself all in for 1.5k with 3d-4d vs As-Qs. Jason hits a monster flop of 7d-Td-3c to give him a pair and a flush draw. His hand holds and he's almost back up to what he started with this morning!

Connie O'Sullivan out!

Moments after losing the majority of his stack, Connie pushes 67s from the BB and finds a caller in the form of Simon McHechie who had opened on the button with 22. There's a 2 on the flop and that's curtains for the Kerry man.

Dara O' Kearney doubles through Connie

In a massive preflop confrontation, Dara O'Kearney and Connie O'Sullivan found themselves all-in. Dara was afraid that Connie had Aces but his fears turned to joy when Connie flipped AK. No help for Dara and he doubles through Connie who is now very short stacked!

Alex Collyer moving up!

Alex Collyer now has something to be smiling about, boasting a healthy stack of 30k after eliminating Shane Flynn.

Preflop, Shane Flynn raised to 1200 which was called by Alex on the button. The flop came down 9QT. Shane led out 1500 and Alex raised to 7000. Shane then pushed for 14,775. Alex dwelled up for a while before making a great call with 89 which was miles ahead of Shanes AJ. No help for Shane and he's gone in 99th...

John Burke Out

John Burke is now out of the Main Event pushing with 43s preflop and getting called by AJ. Ace-High held and John is eliminated. Players are falling thick and fast with only 100 players remaining!

Liam Flood Crippled!

Liam started the day with 10,750 and actually doubled up with KQs, hitting a flush on the river. He even did a little dance to brag about it!

Moments later, he found his entire stack in the middle with a 55 on a 567 board vs Patrick MacCanns 87. Patrick hit a straight on the river and Liam is crippled to 700 chips!

Eamon Hogan doubles up!

Eamon Hogan, 32k

Eamon Hogan has doubled up to 32k after hitting a flush on a turn to defeat Rory Kehoes flopped set of 8's! Rory still has an above average stack to play with though with what looks to be 23k.

A duo of Double Up's

The shortstackers aren't all being eliminated. Some are doubling up and within seconds of each other, Jen Mason, who wasn't lying last night told me she was going to do nothing but push all in this morning and Alex Collyer have doubled up!

Jen found Q8 and got action vs 66. Jen hits runner runner straight to bring her stack back up t0 a respectable 30BB's.

Alex Collyer in the meantime went all-in with a more legitament hand, his 88 winning the race against his opponents AK.

Mick Stevens is out!

In yet another early morning confrontation, Mick Stevens found his JJ in need of a little help against Sean Prenderville's KK. No help for Mick and we now have 106 players remaining!

David Daniels is eliminated

In what appeared to be an all-in preflop situation, David Daniels found his 10.3k all in the middle with JJ which was in bad shapes against Rory Keoghs KK. Rory didn't have to sweat as the first card out on the flop was a King. We now have 108 players left!

Vera Duffy Doubles up first hand!

Vera Duffy just sat down with a shortstack of under 5k, but had no intentions of going anywhere doubling up on the first hand with what I've been told was 44! She is still well under average but is heading in the right direction!

Shuffle Up and Deal!

The players have unbagged their chips and much to my surprise there were no arguments over people thinking they had more! Players are still filtering in, but play has now resumed for day 2!

The starting time for the €250 side event has been pushed back to a later starting time!

Fox Feeling Fine

I just had a brief chat with Brian 'The Fox' O'Keefe, Bodog's sponsored player for this event and he's feeling quietly confident in the lead up to todays play.

Having not seen many cards yesterday, Fox has still managed to make it into Day 2 with an above average stack although has said that he is at a tough table where there are no easy chips to be had.

The Waterford man, who has a stellar tournament record, is hopeful that the cards will come and he's looking forward to the start of play as the atmosphere is building as every minute passes!

We'll be checking in on Fox on a regular basis throughout the day as one of our featured players. If you'd like to suggest a player to be watched like a hawk by myself, then leave a comment in the blog!

Adam

Good Morning!

It's almost lunch time here in Tramore and play is set to resume in just over an hour. There are players who are hanging out in the revamped Bodog Lounge which now includes a Nintendo Wii with several players currently practising their bowling skills. One thing's for sure is that the Bodog girls will be bowling everyone over when they show up in little over an hour!

Satellites for todays €250 event are starting shortly. That event starts at 4:30pm and with a 10k starting stack and generous 40 minute clock, numbers look to be high!

In the meantime, I'll be trawling through the large database of pictures taken thusfar (over 400!) to try and get as many people on the blog as possible! It will also help me if you help identify some of the players for me, as I'm new to all this!

Talk soon!

Adam

End of Day Summary

Day 1 of the Bodog sponsored Waterford Open started at 7:30 sharp with 141 being the final number of players who entered this prestigious event which brought the final prizepool to just over €70k with prizemoney to be allocated tomorrow.

As always with well structured events, we witnessed a cagey start to the days play with our first elimination nearly taking 2 hours to come about. Local man Keith Nolan was the first man to bite the dust, probably in the hope that he could spend some time with the lovely Bodog girls and another 29 had followed him out the door by time play had ended at 3am.

There were plenty of players to keep an eye out on with Bodog Sponsored player, Brian O'Keefe being one of numerous players who were constantly on the reporting team of Adam Murphy and Mick Doran's radar!

A mere 112 players make it to Day 2 with Simon McHechie being the monstrous chipleader. To put things into perspective, the average stack going into tomorrow is 18,883! I know this is early stages yet, and I'll admit that anything can happen in poker, but surely the smart money is on this man! He's almost unstopable!

Don't forget to join the Bodog Reporting team tomorrow who'll be following all the action with their notebooks and cameras and posting from the spacious Bodog Lounge which is located just outside the tournament area. Comfy couches and Bodog Girls are but some of the things which await players when they want to relax or take a break the chaos inside!

Play Stops For The Day!

Play has now finished for the day! I'm in the process of gathering the chip counts from Neill and co and will post back shortly with chip counts and a brief summary of the days play!

Adam

This Man Cannot be Stopped!

On every single one of my trips over to Table 17 tonight, Simon McHechie is involved in the action! On this particular occassion, he claimed another victim when he hit a straight on the river! Simon is now the massive chip leader with almost 80k in play!

Simon McHechie

Another Victim!

Colin Quarry Hits The Rocks!

In another flurry of late night action, Colin Quarry makes one of the final exits of the night! With 4 limpers, Colin raises his BB to 1600 with blinds at 150/300 and gets one caller, the SB. The SB leads out on an ace high rainbow flop and after little deliberation is reraised by Colin. After much deliberation, the SB calls putting Colin on a Queen. He's wrong and Colin turns over A7 which is in a bit of trouble against his A9. There was no help for Colin on the turn or river and we bid adieu to the Dungarvan rock!

Adam

Mick McCloskey Loses Big Pot

In another one of the last hands of the day, Mick McCloskey throws another 5k into the pot to call his opponents all-in preflop saying that he wants to gamble with AQ. As it transpires, it was his opponent who was gambling with KQ, but as they say, you have to gamble to win and sure enough a King came on the flop leaving Mick looking down at what once used to be a healthy stack and pleading to his opponent to stop doing that to him!
