Open mucking +ev??

Just heard about a hand from one of our dealers that involved a guy open mucking on the river in a heads up pot with 6k in the middle, his oppponent gratefully accepted the pot claiming he had 9 high for a missed flush draw.

Some Hand Histories

Ollie St. John found himself involved in a 4k pot with blinds at 75/150 after checking the BB with K-6. He hit top pair on the flop and then found himself hitting two pair on the King river! Unfortunately for Ollie, his opponent wasn't being sucked into calling Ollie's thinly veiled value bet on the river and duly folded. Ollie showed his hand but may come to regret it as he's since taken a big hit!

Nicky Power optimistically took a stab at a 3k pot with the board reading Ah-Kh-Qc-Ks but gave up by the river!

Can I have a coffee?

As I'm marching around the room, with my notebook in my hand, this optimistic gent asks me to get him a coffee! All I'm interested in though is how he has hands down won the award for the most untidy chipstack!

Butch Buldges his Stack

Butch Power has just doubled up! For once I managed to reach the table through a minefield of chairs to see that Butch had all in chips in the middle preflop with AA and was called by KK. There was some "oooh's" and "aaaah's" as the turn brought a flush draw for the Kings, but much to the delight of Butch, the river was a blank and he's doubled up!

What's the matter?

Has this man just been put for a decision for all his chips?? Upon closer inspection this reporter can see that it's just an innocent stretch! Players have now been playing for four hours tonight and stamina will play a big part in deciding who comes back to fight tomorrow!

Bodog Lounge and Big Guaranteed Tournament

Lot of people chilling here in the Bodog lounge now, watching Bodog fights on the giant TV and looking at the super hot Bodog girls.

We can also tell you about a private $3,000 guaranteed tournament happening on Bodog on the 19th of June at 8pm, only $20 buy-in, visit bigslickevents.net for the password and more information.

Genius or Donkey??

Richie Lawlor has just informed us of a hand which involved a triple barrell bluff for almost all his chips. He raised KsJs preflop and was called by Bops and Butch Power, flop came Ac7c3h, Richie bet 1k and both players called. Turn was an offsuit 8, Richie bets 3.5k, Bops folds, Butch calls. River is the 4c completing the flush, Richie bets 6k with King high leaving 1k behind and after a long dwell Butch mucks it and Richie can breath again. Hes now up to 20k and better start playing tighter or i wont be happy seeing as i have a stake in him!!!!!!

Break Banter

The players have just come back from their 40 minute soup and sandwich break. At least I think what I had was soup! Anyway, I got into the thick of things and put on my sympathy cap as I listened to bad beat story after bad beat story for the duration of the break!

Some stories of note included Dungarvan Man, Eamon Hogan laying down a straight flush to the king! Thankfully for Eamon, his opponent showed the Ace for the tournaments first royal flush. Amazingly, the hand only cost Eamon 3k! I think if I was in that spot I'd be on the bus back home! Already donning a BigSlickEvents T-shirt, I'm sure I'll have to rustle up a Bodog cap for that laydown!

Meanwhile, I sat beside Brenda Foley who told me she was dealt pocket aces twice in the first two hours. The first time she got absolutely no action, so she cunningly decided to slow play them the next time... only to run into a flush! She's still in, albeit a bit disheartened at the luck she's getting with the pocket aces!

David Tutty and Anthony Lynch also had stories to tell, both pulling off big moves on their respective tables. Thankfully for both players, their moves paid off and are sitting behind above average stacks!

Billy Fitzpatrick must have cursed his luck at his table draw... he has Jen Mason, Brian O'Keefe and Dave McCarthy sitting to his left! His luck didn't improve when he lost 7k with AK on a king high flop after his opponent called a preflop RERAISE with K2. Needless to say, a 2 came on the turn... otherwise Billy wouldn't have been telling me about that story!

Anyway, play is now in the third level. We have 138 players remaining with the average stack at 15,326. I'll scour around the room looking for hands of note and stacks of note!

Players on their first break!

The players have started to filter through the halls of the Majestic Hotel here in Waterford and here in the Bodog Lounge we're overhearing all the bad beat stories of the first 2 hours of play which we'll fill you in on once we dig into our soup and sandwiches! For now we'll leave you with some chipcounts at the break!

Joe Flemming, 25k

Pat Russell, 35.5k

Bosco is 2nd player out!

Irish hero, Bosco, is our 2nd player out today! Holding Ts6d, all the chips go in the middle on a Td-9d-7s-8d board only for Ian Whitty to turn over a flush leaving Bosco drawing to one out, the 7d which never came!

Ian now has over 20k chips with the players just about to head into their first break!

First Bust Out At Last

We didnt see the start of the hand but its 4 way to the flop which comes 6-8-9. Action goes check, check, check and we have an all in from Keith Nolan for 4k, 2 folds and then a snap call from Warren Lane holding 5-7 for the straight which is way ahead of Keith's J-9, a 3rd spade on the turn gives him some hope but the river blanks and we have our first exit of the day.

Dave Fagan In Some Early Action

Dunhill man, Dave Fagan was just involved in a 18k pot that ended with him reeling in all the chips. Holding 4-4, Dave was unphased by a 4-6-3-2 board and managed to extract some value when his gin card hit, the 6 of clubs giving him a boat. His opponent made the crying call with JJ. Dave is now sitting pretty with 24k!

141 players still remaining

Final number of runners is looking like 141, payouts to follow soon.
Still awaiting our first elimination after a tight first 75 minutes of play here at the Bodog Waterford Open.
