I can't believe I came out unscathed, but have just returned from doing a full lap of the room making sure to take a note of anything major I noticed on my way in my trusty notebook!
Bops, the self-confessed tourney donk, told me that he doubled up, getting his money in as an underdog with AJ vs 66 preflop against Boards.ie member corkie123. He left it until the turn to hit his ace... and hit another on the river for good measure.
At one point during the night, Dave Fagan looked like he was in good shape for tomorrow but has since experienced the gutting feeling of running into quads when his KK saw a flop of 7-7-x with his opponent holding 77 and slowplaying them all the way until Dave realised something was awry on the river!
As I was walking past Table 13, I witnessed three way action involving Bomber Nolan and Ian Hutch as well another player whose name I didn't quite catch! The flop was 10-6-8 rainbow and Hutch bet out 800 which was called in both spots. The King on the turn saw Hutch throw out 1500 into the pot and was once again called in both spots. A 5 came on the river and Hutch bet out 2k. Bomber reluctantly folded and is now crippled.
On Table 16, I came across Smurph who has 20k. Richie Lawlor was also sitting at the table in pain with around 3k wondering what was the point in sitting with such a small stack!
Online qualifier, Legend_DIT is sitting at Table 20 with 21.5k. He mentioned that his Aces had got action earlier and held up against TT!
Table 19 has some familiar faces. Fox is sitting comfortably on 21.5k and while I was chatting with him, I witnessed a mid-position raise to 1.1k followed by a button reraise to 3k which was called. The flop of 2-8-4 rainbow was checked to the button who bet 5k. After a brief dwell up, the mid position raiser mucks JJ and the button throws over QQ! Once that hand is over, David Tutty tells me of an earlier slow played full house gone wrong with the board double pairing on the river, counterfeiting his full house. You can imagine his dismay as the UTG limper took down the pot with 63o!
Finally, on my way back out of the room, I saw some action on Table 12 which almost involved Gary Clarke... but it didn't! The button raised to 900 with blinds at 150/300 and the SB reraised to 4k. Gary folded his BB and the button mucked AJ!
And that brings me out here to the lobby! With only ten minutes of play left for the day, play is going slower than we thought it would! I have sent Mick out to catch all the remaining action of the day, but there are still 124 players left and that doesn't look like it will drop by much!
