And That's A Wrap!

There's still three cash tables on to go here in the Majestic, but my job is done! Thanks to everyone who followed the updates and hopefully I'll see you all in Killarney! Now... where are those Bodog Girls!!!

Day Three Summary

Bodog Waterford Open Concludes.

Today saw the wrap up of the Bodog Waterford Open, Bodog's first of many sponsored events in Europe! There were three events to follow today, the 3 day €500 main event, a 2 day €250 side event and a one day €100 event which drew a big local crowd.

Play in the main event started at 2:30pm, with the overnight chip leader Mick G looking set to continue dominating. Early in the day he made a gigantic preflop call that almost made his opponent Jude Duffy puke all over the place as he could only watch as all his chips were eventually pushed in Mick G's direction! Mick's fairytale weekend came to an end when he ran his pocket kings into the brilliantly played quads of Sean Prenderville.

Anthony Lynch, one of the "young guns" to watch out for found it difficult to make an impact on the final table having his raises constantly reraised. He was eliminated in 8th place when his two-pair came up short against Paul Quinns' flopped straight! Paul's luck took a turn for the worse when he refused to accept a deal when there were 3 players remaining and on the very next hand lost his stack to Sean Prenderville!

Sean Prenderville eventually came out on top of Willie Fitzpatrick in a brief heads up match that saw Willie take a horrible beat when Sean caught a miracle card on the river to secure the title... and the Waterford Crystal!

In the side events, Emmet Gough took down the €250 event after being the chipleader from the very beginning! Galway man, Derek Cosgrove, overcame tough local opposition to win the €100 event which at times overshadowed the Main Event final table thanks to some colourful characters who celebrated even when they lost a pot!

It's been a enjoyable few days which has seen some great poker, and some shocking poker! Needless to say, the reporting team are knackered and they're only wish is to be able to spend some quality time with the Bodog girls. If only they were still here...

Adam Duggan Doubles Up

Adam Duggan has soared into the chip lead of the €100 event which is of some relief as he was the only player reluctant to do a deal when they were three handed. The three remaining players (in order of stacks) are; Adam Duggan, Keith McFadden and Derek Cosgrave

No Deal in €100 Event

After much discussion, the players have decided to split the €5k left in the prizepool 3-ways, 1.5k, 1.5k, 1.5k with them playing out for the last €500. Shortstack Adam Duggan was reluctant to accept the deal

Seans Sevens Suck Out!

Sean Prenderville takes down the Bodog Waterford Open after calling Willie Fitzpatricks all-in preflop. Sean turns over 77 and Willie TT. A sick seven on the river see's Willie wave goodbye to the chance of taking home the Waterford Crystal!

The €100 event!

The rail is looking a bit bare around the final table of the main event and for those wondering why, it's because the final table for the €100 event is taking place next to us. It's attracted a colourful array of personalities from the locality. Once this Main Event is sewn up, I'll head over and try see what's the big deal!

Even Stevens

Willie just moves all-in and is called by Sean who doesn't believe him with a pair of fours. Willie turns over T9 for middle pair and now they are both within 100k of each other with Sean still in the lead!

Deal done!

A deal has just been done between Willie Fitzpatrick and Sean Prenderville with Sean taking 18k and Willie taking 14k. They are currently playing for the trophy!

Paul Quinn Gone!

Paul Quinn is eliminated in 3rd place having the very prior hand declined to do a three way split! He raises with 44 and Sean Prenderville goes all-in. Paul dwells up and calls with 44. Sean throws over JJ which holds!

Eddie Walsh Gone

Eddie Walsh has just been knocked out when his AQ couldn't catch up with Paul Quinn's 88

€100 Side Event

The final table has just started in the €100 side event which attracted 72 players!

Willie Damages Eddie!

Willie Fitzpatrick used what the remaining players on his table described as a "well cultivated image" to induce a a crying preflop call from Eddie Walsh. Willie turned over AK and Eddie A6.

Board came 7-J-Q/T/J to give a big double up to Willie!

There's still play left in the structure though so it's still anyones game!

Play is crawling

As you'd expect at this stage of the tournament, play is slowing to a crawl with walks not being uncommon. There are 25 minutes left in the 8k/16k blind level.

Hollywood Eddie!

Eddie Makes it 45k preflop with blinds at 8000/15000. He is called by both Paul Quinn and Sean Prenderville from the blinds. 3 players see a flop of KQ6. Paul leads out which seems to discomfort Eddie who after a while announces all-in. Paul calls instantly with KQ but Eddie has KK to have flopped the nuts.

Players back

Players are back from their 15 minute break and no word of a deal has been mentioned

Players on a break

Players are now taking a 15 minutes break. Will there be a possibility of a deal?

We lose Dave O'Mahony

Having gone 2 hours without losing a player, we suddenly find ourselves down two players in two hands! Dave O'Mahony pushes all-in from the button and is called by Paul Quinn in the BB who shows TT. Dave O'Mahony shows KT. The flop brings 3 hearts, with Dave having the ten of hearts, but the turn and river brick and we lose the Killarney man in 5th place. We are now down to 4 players who are playing for a total of €45,000

Mick G is out!

Having in the hand earlier received a triple up to 200k, Mick G and Sean Prenderville clash preflop with Mick G's JJ in need of a lot of help from Sean Prenderville's AA! No help on the board and Mick G is out in 6th place!

3 way all-in!

MickG moves all-in for 62k, Dave Mahony re-raises all-in for 130k and Eddie Walsh in the BB, who has both players covered dwells up and makes the call!

Mick G shows 44, Dave O'Mahony shows JJ and Eddie Walsh shows AK.

The board comes Q-3-7 / 2 and on the river falls a 4, giving Mick G a set and he triples up! Dave Mahony benefits slightly, taking down the sidepot but it's Eddie Walsh who takes a 130k hit!

Sean not afaid to use chips!

With blinds at 6k and 12k, Sean proves that he's not afraid to use his chip lead.

David Mahony raises to 40k, Paul Quinn reraises to 120k and then Sean announces all-in! Needless to say both players fold as Sean moves close to 1 million in chips!

Sean Prenderville, close to 1m chips.

Chip Counts

Paul Quinn: 600k
Sean Prenderville: 840k
Eddie Walsh: 300k
Willie Fitz: 220k
Mick G: 45k
Dave Mahony: 170k

BlindsL 6k/12k A:1000

Anyone fancy a chop?

Mick G has just complained that the tournament is getting a bit crapshooty and has offered a 6-way equal chop! Of course he would say that as he's sitting with only 5 BB's!

Eddie Walsh Doubles Up!

A sick hand see's Eddie double up thanks to Paul Quinn. Paul Quinn raises to 50k only to be faced with an all-in by Eddie Walsh. "Anybody else, Eddie..." he says as he finally makes the call with AQ. All eyes dart to Eddie who also has AQ of diamonds. The flop is enough to make every railbird and their dog sick, but not Eddie who's now up to over 200k!

Willie Fitz gives up big pot

Willie Fitz has just given up a big pot to Paul Quinn. I arrive at the table with the board reading 2s-8-5s and Paul has just bet out 47k. Willie reraises to 125k and after several minutes Paul Quinn announces all-in. Willie dwells before folding his hand saying all he can put him on is a set!

€250 Winners Pics

€250 Game is Chopped

Emmet Gough and John Cottie have chopped the €250 side game for €4,000 each

Trevor Dineen Exits

Making a move, Trevor Dineen pushes with A3 preflop and he called by Dave Mahony with AK. Blank board and Trevor finishes in 7th for €3500

Micky G loses 750k pot!!

With blinds at 5k/10k, Micky G get's all his money in on the turn on a 6-Q-6/9 board against Sean Prenderville whom he has covered slightly. Sean quickly reveals 6-6 for quads leaving Micky drawing dead and saying goodbye to his chiplead. He's left in the tournament with 30k chips - 3BB's.

€250 Event Update

We are down to four players in the €250 event.

Jason Thompkins
Emmet Geough
John Cottie
Mark Oliver

John Cottie is your chip leader!

Anthony Lynch is gone

Moments after the elimination of Martin Noonan, Anthony Lynch follows him after pushing allin on a 3-4-6 board with 3-4. Paul Quinn in seat one calls with 5-7, for a flopped straight. Anthony takes home €2500 after this impressive performance.

Martin Noonan Gone in 9th

Martin Noonan pushes allin with AJ and is called by Mick G's pocket 4's. Martin's AJ doesn't improve on the board and he leaves with €2000.

Your Final Table!

Alex Collyer out in 10th!

Just as I head down to update about the hits Mick G takes, I hear the announcement that Alex Collyer moves all in with 55 and is called by Willie Fitz who finds KK. There's no help for Alex and he's out in 10th, taking home €1500.

I'll update with chipcounts momentarily.

Mick G takes another hit

In the hand after doubling up Trevor Dineen up, Mick G found himself losing another stack of bundle of chips, this time doubling up Eddie Walsh! Eddie pushes in the SB with JcTc and is called by Mick G who has 77.

Things looks good with a 7 being the door card on the flop, but there are two clubs. The turn brings a club giving Eddie his flush and thankfully for him the river doesn't pair the board.

Eddie Walsh now has 180k and we are still on the bubble of the final table!

Trevor Dineen Doubles Up in Style

Trevor Dineen has just doubled up in style. It was all-in preflop vs Mick G. Mick G was ahead with A9 but Trevors A-7d hit a monster flop of 7d-8d-Jd giving Trevor a gutshot straight flush draw which hit on the Td turn!

Trevor is now sitting with 150k with blinds at 4k/8k

Rail Birds Having Their Say

In a bit of railbird banter, it's been claimed that everyone's afraid of "Stacks", the nickname that monstrous chip leader, Mick G has earned!

Play tightening up here!

Play is tightening up here as we're on the bubble for the final table! Paul Quinn just folded 2-7... and they were suited!

Anthony Lynch doubles up

Anthony Lynch had become quite shortstacked having had his raises constantly snapped off but he managed to find KK at the right in the SB, pushing and being called by Trevor Dineen. Anthony Lynch now has just over 100k with blinds at 3,000/6,000

Victor Brophy gone!

In yet another elimination, Victor Brophy and his A3 are no match for Mark Noonans AQ. We are now down to ten players

Simon McGechie Gone!

Shortstacked Simon McGechie goes all-in with Alex Collyer. Simon has T4, Alex AT.

A 4-7-T flop gives Simon the lead, but a 7 on the river counterfeits his two pair and Alex takes down the pot.

We lose Patrick McFadden

"rizlakid" Patrick McFadden has now been eliminated having become shortstacked. I didn't catch the exit hand I'm afraid.

Bubble Burst in €250 Event

Ollie St. John is the bubble boy in the €250 event having his All-in with AK called by Emmet Geough, the chipleader, who has JK. The flop is innocent enough, coming 7-5-8, the turn is a T and the river is a T, giving Emmet a Jack high straight. We're now at the final table and I hope to have player names asap.

Emmet Geough, chip leader in 250 event

Chip counts

Alex Collier: 110k
Willie Fitz: 230k
Mark Noonan: 100k
Sean Prenderville: 270k
Victor Brophy: 52k
Simon McGechie: 79.5k
Patrick McFadden: 50k

Eddie Walsh: 80k
Mick G: 606k
Dave Mahony: 250k
Paul Quinn: 260k
Anthony Lynch: 110k
Trevor Dreen: 120k

Mick G eliminates Jude Duffy for 500k pot!

In the very last hand before the break, Mick G makes a monster call after Jude Duffy pushes all-in. He announces that if he calls it's justified in the hopes that he's racing. He does eventually make the call with AJ and he is racing against Judes TT. A picture tells a thousand words, so here's 3!

Dara O' Kearney eliminated

Having been quiet for the duration of the day, Dara O'Kearney has been eliminated. Pushing in Late position with Q4 in the hopes of picking up some desperately needed blinds and ANTES and being called by Ace high. The board comes J-K-7/K/5 and we lose Dara.

Willie FItz traps with AA for 230k

Willie Fitz limps UTG and Victor Brophy re-raises. Action is folded around to Willie Fitz who pushes all in and is called by Victor Brophy. Willie turns over AA and Victor AK. No help for Victor and Willie doubles up!

Dave Mahony Doubles Up Again

Dave Mahony has found himself a new hobby - doubling up! Once the shortstack of the table, Dave has found double up after double up to not just keep himself in the running, but goes into the break as one of the chip leaders.

Trevor Dineen makes it 15k with blinds at 2500/5000 and Dave Mahony reraises to 40k from the BB. The flop comes down 7s-8-Qs and Dave Mahony pushes all in. Trevor Dineen thinks for a minute before calling with Js-Ts for a gutshot with a flush draw - a slight favourite in the hand.

The turn brings a King which brings some relief to Dave and the river is a blank meaning the Silver Fox doubles up again!

Sean Prenderville in 224k pot

Last time Sean Prenderville and Simon McGechie clashed, they found themselves splitting a pot that Sean felt he should have won! Minutes later and Sean doubles up through Simon McGechie.

Holding 22, Sean moved all-in on a flop of Q-9-2 and is called by Simon's AQ. No strange runner runner combo and Sean is now back in the position he felt he should have been in for the past 30 minutes!

Matt Dobbins Out!

Having lost a 100k pot to Patrick McFadden, Matt Dobbins found himself all-in versus Simon McGechie. Matt was holding 99, whilst Simon turned over AK. There was no help to Simon on the flop, the turn bricked, but there was the horrid ace on the river!

Matt is eliminated in 16th place whilst Simon is now sitting pretty on over 200k.

Dave O'Mahony doubles up!

In what was a standard race preflop, soon turned into an uphill struggle! Dave pushes preflop for ~60k and is called by Dara O'Kearney. Dave has 99 and Dara AK.

There's an ace on the flop of A-5-3 putting Dara in good shape but a 9 on the turn leaves Dara drawing dead!

Sean despairs as board straightens!

Sean Prenderville was looking good for a double up when his pre-flop push with AJ is called by Simon McGechie's KcJc!

The board comes 9-5-7/T and an 8 on the river gives both players a Jack high straight and splitting the 120k pot.

Jude Duffy Gets A Massive Double Up

On a board that reads A-4-3/A, Trevor Dineen moves allin for 75k. Jude snap calls and shows 44 for a house. Trevor Dineen shows AJ. No help for Trevor on the river and Jude reels in a pot of over 200k!

We lose Darren Smith

Darren Smith, who travelled in a group of 8 from London, has finished in 17th place! It was an all in preflop and Darren, who had JJ was happy to see Mark Noonan holding AJ. However, an Ace on the flop left him drawing to the case J. Of some consolation to Darren, his friend Simon McGechie is still in the tournament with over 120k.

Patricks Aces no match for Matt's AK

In a pre-flop confrontation that resulted in Patrick McFadden allin with Matt Dobbins for a 100k pot! Patrick wasted no time in turning over AA which was in great shape against Matt's AK.

The board came down 3-T-3/7/Q and Patrick doubles up!

Sean Prenderville Doubles Up!

Having taken a big hit with Queens earlier in the day, Sean found his push for 25k called by Dara O'Kearney. Dara turned over AQ and Sean KQ.

The board came down: K-5-9/J/4 meaning that Sean is still hanging in there with 54k with blinds at 2k/2k

Martin Noonan Triples up to 180k

Martin Noonan is allin preflop with and is playing Matt Dobbins and Patrick McFadden who check it down. The board comes T-6-3-K-2. Both Matt and Patrick turn over Ace-High and Patrick jubilantly turns over K-Q to triple up!
Martin Noonan, 180k

Matt Dobbins up to 200k!

Matt Dobbins has doubled up once again! This time at the expense of Patrick McFadden. Patrick Raised, Matt Dobbins pushed and Patrick thought for a while before calling.

It was a straight race, with Matt Dobbins holding AK and TT for Patrick. The board came 9-K-Q, much to the delight of Matt and there was no Ten or Jack on the turn or river!

Matt is now sitting on over 200k chips with blinds at 2,000/4,000

Paul Quinn doubles up

Paull Quinn makes it 12k preflop and is re-raised by Sean Prenderville who makes it 30. After some confusion over string betting, Paul Quinn minreraises to 60. It all goes in preflop and Paul Quinn and his AA holds over Seans QQ! Paul now sits on 250k!

Ger Wall Gone!

The relatively short stack, Ger Wall, goes all in on a Ten high flop only to run into Victor Brophy's QQ. Ger finishes in 18th place taking home €800

Dave Mahony takes down big pot preflop

Action on table 3 as Dave O'Mahoney comes over the top of Eddie Walshs preflop raise. Eddie folds for 25k more and Dave takes down a nice pot preflop!

Matt Dobbins Doubles up

Play has just resumed and Matt Dobbins has doubled up within the first three hands. Holding QcJc, he wins the race against Alex Collier's 66 and now has a stack to play with.

Day Two Summary

Action-packed is a term best used to describe the second day of the Bodog Waterford Open, which saw 112 players return to try win the lions share of the prizepool of €70,500! Once again the Bodog girls were in attendance and players used any excuse to try spend time with them throughout the day.

Poker wasn't the only thing on everyone's mind though, as a transformed Bodog Lounge now featured a Wii, allowing players to really have fun during their breaks by playing tennis and throughout the day it was often noted to be the retreat of many players who found the bad beats were more than they could handle! One player even confessed that he spent more time practicing his forearm than he did playing poker... although I didn't want to delve further into this remark!

Once again the Bodog girls were in attendance and players used any excuse to try spend time with them

In the poker room, the knockouts were coming thick and fast with the previous nights short stackers desperate to move up the ranks. The first knockout of real significance was Brian 'The Fox' O'Keefe who was unlucky to find his opponent hitting one of only two cards that could win the hand for him! He wished his opponent all the best and registered for the €250 event in the hope of having better luck.

Perhaps one of the most dramatic hands witnessed by the reporters during the day was a blur of action that saw Aces take on Queens for a massive pot. "I folded Kings" said Gerry Wall, the player who managed to do what even the most experienced players struggle to do - with the added bonus of being right! Had he called, he would have been eliminated from the tournament, but instead he finds himself in a position to challenge for the win having already guaranteed himself €800 along with 17 others!

Going into day 3, the final day of the tournament, the chip leader for the Main Event is Mick G who has over 320,000 chips. Yesterday's chip leader, Simon McGechie has improved slightly on last nights count with 90,000 chips and after playing solidly all day, should still be considered a force in the tournament. My own personal choice would have to be Anthony Lynch who has been right up there from the get go. He finds himself in the ideal position to topple Mick G, sitting on 275,000 chips.

Tomorrow promises so much, but will it live up to our expectations? Find out by following the live coverage at the Bodog Waterford Open Blog!
